For most of the year, it's hard to get a room in Quiberon. In July and August, the whole peninsula is packed, while in winter it's so quiet that virtually all its facilities closed down. The nicest area in which to stay is along the seafront in Port-Maria, where several good hotel-restaurants face the Belle-Île ferry terminal. The local hostel, the spartan Filets Bleus, inland at 45 rue du Roc'h-Priol (tel 02.97.50.15.54; €7.93; closed Oct–March), 1.5km southeast of the gare SNCF, also provides space for camping.

Hôtel-Restaurant Au Bon Accueil 6 quai de Houat tel 02.97.50.07.92, fax 02.97.50.28.62. Basic but inexpensive seafront hotel rooms in Port-Maria. A friendly dining room, with something of the atmosphere and decor of a village bar, serves good fish soup and seafood specialities. Closed Jan. €30–40

Hôtel-Restaurant Bellevue rue de Tiviec tel 02.97.50.16.28, fax 02.97.30.44.34. Quiet logis de France, set slightly back from the sea near the Casino, 500m east of the port, with its own pool and a good restaurant. Closed Oct–March. €55–70

Le Neptune 4 quai de Houat tel 02.97.50.09.62, fax 02.97.50.41.44. Very close to Au Bon Accueil, and significantly more luxurious. All the rooms enjoy sea views – some have private balconies – and there are the usual seafood menus from €16 to €28. Closed Jan, & Mon in low season. €55–70

L'Océan 7 quai de l'Océan tel 02.97.50.07.58, fax 02.97.50.27.81. Attractive little hotel in the port, with multi-coloured pastel shutters – no restaurant, but reasonably priced rooms. Closed Oct–March. €40–55
