France for visitors

SNCF rail passes
France > Basics > Getting around > By train > Rail passes > SNCF rail passes

SNCF itself offers a range of train passes, which can be purchased online (www.voyages-sncf.com), through most travel agents in France or from main gares SNCF and are valid for one year. Over-60s can get the Carte Senior, which costs €46 for unlimited travel. Among other discounts, it offers up to 50 percent off tickets on TGVs, subject to availability, or other journeys starting during blue periods (off-peak), a 25 percent reduction on normal, white-period fares and on through international journeys involving most countries in western and central Europe. The same percentage reductions are available for under-26s with a Carte 12–25 pass, which costs €44. Under-12s can obtain the same advantages for themselves and up to four travelling companions of any age by purchasing the Enfant Plus Carte (€58).
