The gare SNCF is about 1500m east of the centre, at the end of avenue Frédéric-Mistral. The nearest bus stop is at the bottom of rue Jean-Reboul, the first left as you walk away from the station. Bus #2, direction "Nogent", takes you to the Théâtre Antique, opposite which there's a seasonal tourist office (April–Sept daily 10am–1pm & 2–7pm) while the next stop, "Gasparin", brings you to the main tourist office on cours Aristide-Briand (April–Sept Mon–Sat 9am–7pm, Sun 10am–6pm; Oct–March Mon–Sat 9am–5pm; tel 04.90.34.70.88, www.provence-orange.com). The gare routière is close to the centre on place Pourtoules.

Of the hotels, good options include small, appealing and good-value Arcotel, 8 place aux Herbes (tel 04.90.34.09.23, [email protected]; €40–55); L'Arène, on place de Langes (tel 04.90.11.40.40, fax 04.90.11.40.45; €70–85), with spacious rooms and all mod cons; and the very comfortable Le Glacier, 46 cours Aristide-Briand (tel 04.90.34.02.01, www.le-glacier.com; €40–55). Orange's campsite, Le Jonquier, rue Alexis-Carrel (tel 04.90.34.49.48, fax 04.90.51.16.97; closed Oct–March), to the northwest, is equipped with tennis courts and a pool. The price for two people and a tent is €19.80.
