The gare SNCF is a short way west of the old town, with the tourist office in the adjacent park on the allée Champs-de-Mars (mid-June to Aug daily 8.30am7.30pm; Sept to mid-June MonSat 8.30am6.30pm; tel 04.75.01.00.20, www.montelimar-tourisme.com). There are plenty of hotels around the boulevards, including the very pleasant Sphinx, in a seventeenth-century town house at 19 bd Marre-Desmarais (tel 04.75.01.86.64, www.sphinx-hotel.fr; €4055; closed Jan & Feb), and Le Printemps, 8 chemin de la Manche (tel 04.75.46.03.14, www.hotel-du-printemps.com; €5570). Within the old town you could try Pierre, 7 place des Clercs (tel 04.75.01.33.16; €3040) peaceful, apart from the nearby bell of Ste-Croix tolling the hours. The campsite, International Deux Saisons (tel 04.75.01.88.99; closed DecFeb) is 500m east on the D540, then right towards Alexis. For good traditional food, head for the Relais de l'Empereur, 1 place Max-Dormoy (tel 04.75.01.29.00; closed mid-Nov to mid-Dec; menus from €19.80).
