Across the river from Trocadéro, the Eiffel Tower offers the most impressive vista of all, while the area at its feet to the east, the Septième arrondissment (7e), is worth exploring for the classy shops and restaurants around rue Cler. Much of the rest of this quarter is dominated by monumental government buildings and the military edifices of the École Militaire and Hôtel des Invalides, the latter housing the impressive war museum and, appropriately enough, the tomb of Napoleon. Tucked away in the streets towards St-Germain, the Musée Rodin and Musée Maillol show off the two sculptors' works in the intimate surroundings of handsome hôtels. Pages in section ‘Septième’: Notable buildings, Eiffel Tower, École Militaire, Quai Branly, Sewers, Quai d'Orsay, Invalides, Musée Rodin, Musée d'Orsay.
