In the Bois de Vincennes, on rte de la Pyramide (M° Château-de-Vincennes, then bus #112 or a ten-minute walk past the Château de Vincennes), www.parcfloraldeparis.com. April–Sept 9.30am–8pm; Oct–March 9.30am–5/6pm; admission €1.50, children aged 6–17 €0.75 plus supplements for some activities, under-6s free.

There's always fun and games to be had at the Parc Floral, on the other side of the Bois de Vincennes towards the zoo. The excellent playground has slides, swings, ping-pong (racket and ball €6) and pedal carts (from 2pm; €7–10 per half-hour), mini-golf modelled on Paris monuments (from 2pm; €5, children under 12 €3), an electric car circuit, and a little train touring all the gardens (April–Oct daily 1–5pm; €1). Tickets for the paying activities are sold at the playground between 2pm and 5.30pm weekdays and until 7pm on weekends; activities stop fifteen minutes afterwards. Note that many of these activities are available from March/April to August only and on Wednesdays and weekends only in September and October. On Wednesdays at 2.30pm (May–Sept) there are free performances by clowns, puppets and magicians. Also in the park is a children's theatre, the Théâtre Astral, which has mime, clowns or other not-too-verbal shows for small children aged 3 to 8 (Wed & school hols 3pm, Sat 3.30pm, Sun & public hols April–Oct 4.30pm, Nov–March 3.30pm; €5.50; tel 01.43.71.31.10). There is also a series of pavilions with child-friendly educational exhibitions (free entry), which look at nature in Paris; the best is the butterfly garden (mid-May to mid-Oct Mon–Fri 1.30–5.15pm, Sat & Sun 1.30–6pm).
