In addition to the brasserie in the Grand Hôtel, there are plenty of restaurants in Roubaix, many serving regional specialities. The best reputation is enjoyed by the Auberge de Beaumont, 143 rue de Beaumont (closed Sun & Mon; menus from €23), with appealingly rustic decor; Chez Charly, 127 ave J-B Lebas is an excellent place for lunch (closed Sun; menus €1729), serving classic food in a cosy wood-panelled dining room. For couscous and other North African fare head for Les Hammadites, 45 rue du Chemin de Fer. For a drink there's La Grande Brasserie de l'Impératrice Eugénie at 22 place de la Liberté, while for afternoon tea or a light lunch it's worth knowing that Lille's prestigious waffle makers, Méert, have a suitably stylish branch in the Musée d'Art et d'Industrie.
