Rouen's airport is at Boos, 9km southeast of town (tel 02.35.79.41.00). Shuttle buses connect with each arrival and departure, running to the gare SNCF via the Palais de Justice. Avis (tel 02.35.70.95.12), Budget (tel 02.32.81.95.00), and Hertz (tel 02.35.98.16.57) offer car rental both in the terminal and in town.The main gare SNCF, Gare Rive Droite, stands at the north end of rue Jeanne-d'Arc; it's connected to the centre by a multibillion-franc métro system, completed in 1998. From the train station (Mº Gare Rue Verte), the métro follows the line of the rue Jeanne-d'Arc, making two stops before it resurfaces to cross the river by bridge. Individual journeys cost €1.20 and a book of tickets is €10. All buses except #2A from the gare SNCF run down rue Jeanne-d'Arc to the centre, which takes five minutes. From the fifth stop, the "Théâtre des Arts" by the river, the gare routière is one block west in rue des Charettes, tucked away behind the riverfront buildings (tel 02.35.52.92.00). Rouen's tourist office stands opposite the cathedral at 25 place de la Cathédrale (MaySept MonSat 9am7pm, Sun 9.30am12.30pm & 26pm; OctApril MonSat 9am6pm, Sun 10am1pm; tel 02.32.08.32.40, www.rouen.fr). It serves as the starting point for two-hour walking Tours of the city, departing daily at 2.30pm, as well as one on Saturdays at 5pm that covers the Jewish quarter; both cost €6. For more sedate visitors, a motorized "petit train" makes a forty-minute-loop tour from the tourist office at regular intervals (AprilOct daily 10am, 11am, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm & 5pm; €4.90). You can rent bicycles from Rouen Cycles, 45 rue St-Éloi (TuesSat 8.30amnoon & 27pm; tel 02.35.71.34.30). The post office is at 45 rue Jeanne-d'Arc, in the centre of town (MonFri 8am7pm, Sat 8amnoon; tel 02.35.15.66.73).
