France for visitors

Hotels
France > Normandy > Seine Maritime > Dieppe > Hotels

Dieppe has plenty of hotels, with the more expensive ones concentrated along the seafront – which is actually among the quietest areas of town – and especially at the western end of the boulevard de Verdun, closest to the castle.

Les Arcades 1–3 Arcades de la Bourse tel 02.35.84.14.12. Long-established hotel, under the eponymous arcades facing the port; you couldn't ask for a more central location, nor one closer to the ferry. Restaurant with good-value menus from €16. €40–55

L'Entracte 39 rue du Commandant Fayolle tel 02.35.84.26.45. Extremely inexpensive, no-frills rooms above a little bar behind the casino, plus some en-suite ones at slightly higher rates. Under €30.

Grand Duquesne 15 place St-Jacques tel 02.32.14.61.10, www.augrandduquesne.fr. Small, well-refurbished pension, located just off place du Puits Salé in view of the main door of the cathedral, where every room has bath and phone. The simplest menu, at €12, includes salmon choucroute. €30–40

La Plage 20 bd de Verdun tel 02.35.84.18.28, fax 02.35.82.36.82. Slightly upmarket rooms, all en suite with cable TV, facing the sea but set back somewhat from the street. No restaurant. €40–55

Pontoise 10 rue Thiers tel 02.35.84.14.57. A basic, inexpensive option, not far from the gare SNCF and well away from the beach. Under €30.

Tourist Hôtel 16 rue de la Halle au Blé tel 02.35.06.10.10, fax 02.35.84.15.87. Plain rooms in a converted town house, one block from the beach behind the Casino; those with en-suite showers cost an additional €12.50. No restaurant. Under €30.
