Caen has a great number of hotels, though, as ever in the bomb-damaged cities of Normandy, few could be called attractive. They're not particularly concentrated in any one area either, though you'll find clusters just west of the castle and tourist office – a convenient location for motorists heading to or from the ferry – as well as around the pleasure port, and a handful facing the gare SNCF. With plenty of dedicated restaurants in town, few hotels other than those specifically mentioned in this section bother to provide food.
