Cheverny's architecture, minus the outermost towers, was used by Hergé as a model for Marlinspike Hall (Moulinsart in French), the ancestral home of Tintin's nautical friend Captain Haddock. The connection is milked dry in the slick exhibition, Les Secrets de Moulinsart, housed in the outbuilding next to the main gate (daily 9.30am6.45pm; €4.20), which retells various stories of the Belgian fictional hero in rooms dressed up in the style of the cartoon, enlivened by audiovisual effects and film clips.
