Blois is easy to get around: avenue Jean-Laigret is the main street leading south from the gare SNCF to place Victor-Hugo and the Château, and past it to the town centre. The gare routière is directly in front of the gare SNCF, with buses leaving four or five times a day for Cheverny and Chambord. The tourist office, on rue de la voute du Château, the Château esplanade (AprilSept TuesSat 9am7pm, Sun & Mon 10am7pm; OctMarch MonSat 9.30am12.30pm & 26pm, Sun 9.30am12.30pm; tel 02.54.90.41.41, www.loiredeschateaux.com), organizes hotel rooms for a small fee and has information on day coach tours of Chambord and Cheverny. Bikes can be rented from Cycles Leblond, 44 Levée des Tuileries (tel 02.54.74.30.13) or Amstercycles, 7 rue du Dr Desfray (tel 02.54.56.07.73).There are decent hotels to be found in Blois, but nothing outstanding.
