The second inland route runs due west from Montpellier, passing Gignac – the turn-off for the spectacular Gorges de l'Hérault and St-Guilhem-le-Désert – before reaching Clermont-l'Hérault, a transport hub from where you can access the Haut Languedoc to the west or the old cathedral town of Lodève further north.
