Bourg-en-Bresse is the place to base yourself if you want to visit Brou's church, just a short bus ride away (#5; every 30min), leaving from place Carriat. The tourist office (Mon–Fri 9am–noon & 2–6.30pm; tel 04.74.22.49.40, www.bourg-en-bresse.org) is in Centre Albert-Camus, 6 av Alsace-Lorraine, with an annexe by Brou church in summer. Wednesday is market day in place Carriat, and on the first and third Wednesdays of each month there's a livestock market as well. An attractive place to stay is the Hôtel du Mail near the station at 46 av du Mail (tel 04.74.21.00.26, fax 04.74.21.29.55; €30–40; closed Dec to mid-Jan & mid-July to Aug 8). The municipal campsite (tel 04.74.45.37.21; April to mid-Oct) is on avenue des Sports, the N83 northeast of town heading for Lons-le-Saunier.
