More tourists flock to Finistère's southern coast than to any other part of the region, with the busiest segment of all in summer centring on the family-friendly resort of Bénodet. The beaches between here and Forêt-Fouesnant to the east rank among the finest in Brittany. Slightly further east, the walled, sea-circled town of Concarneau makes a perfect day-trip destination, though a prettier place to spend a night or two would be the flowery village of Pont-Aven, immortalized by Paul Gauguin, further to the east again. Pages in section ‘South from Quimper’: Bénodet, Concarneau, Pont-Aven, Quimperlé.
