Both the Art Deco gare SNCF and the gare routière (tel 02.96.39.21.05) are in the rather gloomy modern quarter, on place du 11-Novembre, ten minutes' walk west of the walled town. The tourist office can be found at the southwest corner of the place du Guesclin, at 9 rue du Chateau (mid-June to Sept MonSat 9am7pm, Sun 10am12.30pm & 2.306pm; Oct to mid-June MonSat 9am12.30pm & 26pm; tel 02.96.87.69.76, www.dinan-tourisme.com). Internet access is available at @rospace, in the heart of the walled town at 9 rue de la Chaux (TuesSat 10am7pm; tel 02.96.87.04.87).Between late April and late September, boats along the Rance sail between the port downstream and Dinard and St-Malo. The trip takes two and a half hours, with the exact schedule varying according to the tides (adults €16.50, under-13s €10). It's only possible to do a day return by boat (adults €22.50, under-13s €13) if you start from St-Malo or Dinard. For details, contact Émeraude Lines (Dinan tel 02.96.39.18.04; Dinard tel 02.99.46.10.45; St-Malo tel 02.23.18.15.15, www.emeraudelines.com). Dinan has a surprising shortage of the kind of welcoming mid-range hotel-restaurant accommodation that characterizes so many a Breton town, so if that's what you're looking for you might do best to visit only as a day-trip. There are, however, plenty of budget options around. Pages in section ‘Information’: Hotels and B&Bs, Hostel and campsite.
