France for visitors

Accommodation in La Rochelle can be a bit of a problem, so you should be sure to book in advance from May until well into autumn, even if you're camping. While there's a handful of inexpensive – though often quite noisy – hotels in the town centre, in general, you can expect to pay resort prices at most establishments, especially in season. A possible alternative to hotels are self-catering apartments which abound, particularly around Les Minimes and its Village Informatique. The tourist office has a handy board of rented accommodation and is able to reserve hotel rooms for a small fee.
