Chamonix valle hikes
France > Alps > Mont-Blanc > Around Chamonix > Chamonix valle hikes

Opposite Mont Blanc, the north side of Chamonix valley is enclosed by the lower but nonetheless impressive Aiguilles Rouges, with another téléférique to Le Brévent (15 min; €15 return), the 2526-metre peak directly above the town. Classic walks this side of the valley include the Lac Blanc, starting from Les Praz and the Flégère téléférique (20min; €15 return), and the Grand and Petit Balcon Sud trails, giving spectacular views of Mont Blanc. A highly recommended two-day hike is the GR5 stage north from Le Brévent to the village of Sixt via Lac d'Anterne, with a night at the Refuge d'Anterne. The classic long-distance route is the two-week Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB), described in a Topoguide, Andrew Harvey's Tour of Mont Blanc and Chamonix-Mont Blanc: A Walker's Guide.
